On July 2nd, China BlueChemical successfully bunkered China' s SHIPPING Yangpu, with green methanol at Yangpu Port, Hainan. The 200-tonne shipment of green methanol-produced from urban food waste first domestically built methanol-dual fuel container vessel, COSCO and animal manure-achieves full-lifecycle carbon reduction, cutting approximately 325 tonnes of CO2 emissions versus conventional fuels. Leveraging nearly two decades of natural gas-to-methanol expertise, China BlueChemical innovated production processes to significantly lower investment and operational costs. The project secured China's first ISCC EU certification for municipal waste-derived green methanol in May 2024, validating international sustainability standards and market access. This milestone establishes China's integrated "domestic vessel domestic fuel + domestic port" green shipping ecosystem, positioning Hainan as the nation's sole province with end-to-end green methanol production and bunkering capabilities. China BlueChemical confirmed plans to expand clean energy solutions including green methanol and green ammonia to accelerate shipping's low-carbon transition.
